NANA SHI Piano | Accompanist In Residence

Born in Shenyang, China, 26 year-old pianist Nana Shi has appeared as soloist with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Concert Orchestra at the University of Cincinnati. She was the first-prize winner of Concerto Competition and Van Cliburn Scholarship Competition at the University of Cincinnati, Lima Young Artists Competition in Ohio, and Three Arts Scholarship Competition in Ohio. As an active chamber musician, she has worked with leading musicians such as Gilbert Kalish, Seymour Lipkin, Robert Levin, Joel Krosnick, Soovin Kim, and many other members of Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. She has participated in several summer music festivals, including the Emerson Chamber Music Festival, Sarasota Chamber Music Festival, and Kneisel Hall Chamber Music festival.

Ms. Shi started her piano study at the age of 5 and had her debut performance at the Shenyang Conservatory Music Hall at the age of 10. After being awarded a full scholarship in both the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati in 2000, she came to the United States at the age of 18 and began her music study at the latter, where she later received both a Bachelor and Master Degree of Music with full scholarship and graduate assistantship in collaborative piano.

Ms. Shi is currently pursing a doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of New York at Stony Brook, studying with Gilbert Kalish. With a special love in teaching and community programs with kids, she holds a private teaching studio in Suffolk County on Long Island, New York.
